Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in a session?

The first session focuses on gathering important information about you and your presenting concerns. We believe effective treatment begins with a thorough and accurate assessment. During this time, your therapist may ask about your current symptoms, family history, past therapy experiences, and other relevant details to support a positive treatment outcome. Your therapist may also take notes during the session.

Subsequent sessions are more interactive and collaborative. Together, we will define your treatment goals and develop a plan to help you move forward. These goals provide direction and create a framework for accountability, ensuring that your therapy is both purposeful and effective.

How often will I have sessions with my therapist?

Most individuals find it helpful to attend weekly sessions at the start of treatment to build momentum and establish consistency. As progress is made, sessions may be scheduled less frequently.

Together, we will determine a schedule that best supports your needs. If you experience a crisis or require additional support, session frequency can be increased as clinically appropriate.

How long will I be in therapy?

The length of therapy varies based on your individual goals and needs. There is no set timeline for completing the process. We will work with you to establish a pace that feels both comfortable and effective.

Our goal is to ensure therapy moves at a pace that supports meaningful progress, without feeling overwhelming or discouraging. We will continually assess your progress and adjust the pace as needed to help you gain the greatest benefit from treatment.
