The first session is focused on gathering important information about you and your presenting concerns. We believe effective treatment begins with a thorough and accurate assessment. During this session, we may ask about your current symptoms, family history, past therapy experiences, and other relevant details that may support a positive treatment outcome. The therapist may also take notes during this time.
Subsequent sessions are more interactive and collaborative. Together, we will define your treatment goals and begin developing a plan to help you move forward. These goals provide direction for treatment and create a framework for accountability, ensuring that your therapy is both purposeful and effective.
Most people find it helpful to attend weekly sessions at the start of treatment to build positive momentum. As you begin to feel better, sessions can be scheduled less frequently. Together, we will decide on a treatment schedule that works best for you.
If you experience a crisis or need additional support, we can increase session frequency as clinically appropriate.
The length of therapy depends on your individual goals and needs. There is no set timeline for completing the process. We will work with you to establish a pace that feels both comfortable and effective. Our aim is to avoid moving so quickly that it feels overwhelming, while also ensuring progress is steady enough that you don’t become discouraged.
We will continuously monitor the pace of therapy on a session-by-session basis, always striving to find the balance that helps you gain the most benefit from treatment.
